Keep up with your Facebook friends on Sixent
Did you know that you can use Sixent to keep up with what's happening on other sites? Sixent's pods make it easy to drop widgets and feeds from other... sites right onto your Sixent dashboard, a profile, or any other page. You can even keep up with what's happening on Facebook this way. Watch the video to see how: (1 minute 49 seconds) Here's the gist: When you're on the page where you want the Facebook status updates to appear, "Add" a pod. Choose "General", then "RSS" pod...moreless

Not sure this is still working - I think facebook may removed the subscribe function for now.

That's too bad - I haven't tried it recently. Sixent will incorporate Facebook Connect soon enough - we just don't have a date for it yet. Once that's... done you'll be able to pull in your Facebook Activity Stream into your Sixent Dashboard and have the option of updating your Facebook status from within Sixent. We are working on this right now for Twitter (should be out soon).moreless

You're right - I just checked, and there's no longer a feed available on the Facebook Friends > All Friends page. The funny thing is, the feeds... I've already collected still work (for the moment, I guess).moreless

I did some experiments. The feeds are still there but just not advertised.

Make Safari always open URLs in a new tab (not a new window)
There's a pref that sounds like it would do this, but it doesn't work all the time. Sites that use 'target="_blank"' (which seem to be more and more... common) still open new windows when you click them. If you open a Terminal window and enter this, Safari should start opening everything in a new tab instead: defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true You should probably quit Safari before you run that. Is there a way to force Safari to open Bookmarks in a new tab? Thanks a lot,
    • Shaun Mar 20, 2009
Does this work for Safari 4 beta?
    • Patrick Lajeunesse Apr 17, 2009
Yeah - still works after upgrading to Safari 4. I still don't understand why the default behaviour is to open a new window when you've said you don't... want it too... @José - Safari will open a bookmark in a new tab if you hold the Command key when you click it.moreless

My first attempt at a tilt-shift photo, manipulated to make it look like a miniature. You can make your own at http://tiltshiftmaker.com/!

LOL. I just tried it. It works well and yet it's such a simple concept. Seems to just blur a given region.
    • Patrick Lajeunesse Jan 14, 2009
It's amazing, huh? I think you get better results if you oversaturate the colours a bit. It's even cooler in video - check out this time-lapse... tilt-shift video of a monster truck rally: http://vimeo.com/2317118?pg=embed&sec=2317118 moreless

Very cool. So it is JUST a focus/blur and exaggerated colors LOL. Interesting how your mind fills in the rest.
