Secret to Japanese baton-passing technique
This diagram shows the key - instead of the usual overhand pass, the Japanese relay team pass from below and up into the next runner's hand. Fewer fumbles, faster transitions - and a well-deserved third in the 4x100m relay.

Japanese sites are hilarious. There's a about two dozen pandas on that single news site's page (some are blinking)!
